On Her Way to Freedom!
So, Annabelle's got this schooch thing going on. It's not quite the army crawl, because she's not using her arms to pull herself at all. But, she reaches out to the side and pushes her legs, which propels herself forward. It's pretty funny!

Halloween
Annabelle's first Halloween was so fun! She dressed up (and by "dressed up" I mean, I put her costume on for 10 minutes to get these pics until she started crying for it to come off) as a sweet, little, pink poodle.
We had fun hanging out with our "Dinner for 8" group. All the kids dressed up, and we tried to get a group shot, but it just didn't happen. Oh well, Annabelle will be much more into it next year. (We hope!)

Seriously?
It's been a month and a half since I blogged? Wow. So much has happened, and it's been difficult to find a few minutes to spend blogging. So, I think I'll blog about the most important, and post other happenings in future posts (otherwise, this post will be 2 feet long!).
Sadly, at the age of 82, my grandma passed away on 11-10-10. She has been a big part of my life ever since I can remember. And, luckily, she was able to meet Annabelle several times!
Grandma suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. Toward the end, she was in and out of lucidity. However, it was truly amazing how whenever Annabelle visited Grandma, Grandma smiled, laughed, and cooed at Annabelle. Somehow, Annabelle bridged the Alzheimer's gap for Grandma.
Since Grandma and Grandpa live about an hour away, Annabelle and I were able to visit a lot. It was a blessing for me, and I know for Grandma, too.
Grandma, you are very missed here on Earth. See you soon in Heaven.

Tags and Paper
Who needs fancy toys? They are nice, but Annabelle? She likes tags and paper.
This giraffe has long been a favorite of Annabelle's. Recently, she discovered the tag:
"Well, where is a better place for this fun thing than my mouth??"
(Manufactures take note - please place tags in places other than the butts of animals. It looks funny when babies chomp there. Thanks.)
If there is no animal tag around, Annabelle goes for paper.
"Mommy and Daddy are always holding these things - I want to try it out too. I can't read it yet, so what better place than my mouth?"
"What, Mommy?? Why is this funny??"
Oh, funny baby! This poor newsletter didn't stand a chance. (Sorry, city of Anaheim!)

Solid Food Time!
Well, we decided that Annabelle was ready to try some solid food. (By the way, that's totally a misnomer, because the first food is rice cereal mixed with breast milk. It's basically breast milk. But, I digress.)
We got Annabelle all ready. She was a little used to the high chair, since we'd put her there the past few nights and let her watch us eat dinner. Here's literally the first bite:
She did pretty good! She wanted to grab the spoon, which made a bit of a mess. She liked playing more than eating, I think.
By the end, she had eaten several bites and was happy! Not too bad for her first attempt at eating from a spoon!
Oh, my baby is growing up! Exciting and crazy!!

Ready for Food?
Annabelle has become very interested in watching us eat these past few weeks. She's so funny! When I eat or drink something while she's nursing, she'll stop to watch me.
Last night, she wanted to be held while we were eating. So, like any first time parent would, we obliged.
And oh how she watched us! Especially Joel, since she was eye level with his fork.

Swimming At Last!
Last weekend, while it was blazing hot, we took Annabelle swimming for the first time. She loved it!! We heated the pool, so it would be nice and comfy, donned our cute bathing suits, and took the plunge.
Melea and Addison were visiting, and they were so excited to swim with Annabelle too!
We all had so much fun! Here's a just a few more pics just cuz these kids are so cute!

From a Tiger to a Dolphin
Annabelle loves to make different sounds. This week, she sounds like a dolphin! So funny!! (Sorry it's dark - it was daylight, and plenty light in the room, but apparently not enough for video. Sorry!).

Mini Vacation
Last weekend, we went up north to visit with Grandma and Papa Bill. Annabelle did great on the flight, and we had a wonderful time!
It had been a few months since we'd seen Grandma and Papa Bill (Google chat is great, but in person is just better!), and Annabelle has changed so much. They were SO excited to see her. Joel and I were definitely a distant second.
And, Joel finally got to see the Firebird (affectionately called the Blue Devil). We went to a car show on Saturday - here's us with the Firebird.
We also attended church - where Annabelle was quite the star. The congregation was so excited to meet her! Once again, Joel and I were a distant second. I'm sensing a pattern that will likely continue...
By the end of the weekend, we were all pretty tired. Look how Annabelle is "propping" herself up:

Happy 5 Months!
Such a big girl!!! Now that she's so much more active, getting a good shot is hard! So, here was the first shot.
Then, she rolled over and started playing with the sign:
So, we propped it up, but she was still really interested in it. It was kinda hard to get her attention.
Ok, reset the sign. Reset the baby. One last try. And this is what we got. Crumpled sign and all.
Still more interested in other things. Her feet this time. She's so funny!! How has it already been 5 months??

Yet Another First
Last week, while giving Annabelle a bath, I noticed something.
Now, these may look like ordinary after a bath pictures - but look closely. Do you see what I see?
Annabelle's first FRECKLE! Right on her belly!!
Not sure how it got there, since her belly's never seen the sun, but it sure is cute!
